There are not 8 Nineveh's in the path of the Total Solar Eclipse, there are actually 9.
No one is talking about that there are 9 Nineveh's between the Unites States and Canada. The ninth is on the Island of Cape Breten, just north of Nova Scotia, but what does this mean?
See table below.
Town Name | Location | # |
Nineveh | Texas, US | 1 |
Nineveh | Missouri, US | 2 |
Nineveh | Indiana, US | 3 |
Nineveh | Ohio, US | 4 |
Nineveh | Pennsylvania, US | 5 |
Nineveh | Virginia, US | 6 |
Nineveh | New York, US | 7 |
Nineveh | Noca Scotia, Canada | 8 |
Nineveh | Cape Breten, Canada | 9 |
Why is the fact that there are nine Nineveh's in the Eclipse event important?
Because
“it puts a chill in us to realize that Nineveh is
Nineveh is mentioned exactly 9 times
in the Book of Jonah.”
This is the 9th US Total Solar Eclipse which is passing over 9 towns named Nineveh’s when Nineveh is mentioned exactly 9 times in the book of Jonah.
Jonah's Anger
Jonah was unhappy with the repentance that He was willing to show to the enemies of Israel. Since the Assyrians were so wicked and one of their main cities, Nineveh, was especially evil, Jonah wanted nothing tot do with it. He desired that these people were left to die. He had an argument with the Lord we discover while he was still in Israel, in his own home. He accused God, retorting, "You are going to forgive them!"
Ah, Lord, was not this what I said
when I was still in my country?
Therefore I fled previously to Tarshish;
for I know that You are a gracious and merciful God,
slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness,
One who relents from doing harm.
Was Jonah wrong? A wicked city that sins is destined for judgment right? Jonah thought so, but God often reminds us that His ways are higher than ours. He does not delight in the destruction of sinners, and mercy triumphs over judgment the Scriptures declare.
Why Nine Nineveh's?
Do we notice that Nineveh begins with the number "nine"?
Ninth Eclipse.
Nine towns named Nineveh in North America.
Nineveh is mentioned nine times in the book of Jonah.
Is this all a coincidence?
Do we realize that Jesus died in the ninth hour?
Now when the sixth hour had come,
there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.
And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying,
“Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?”
which is translated,
“My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?
And Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and breathed His last.
The Number 9
Jesus died in the ninth hour of the day so that judgment would passover the land of those who deserved that judgment. In the number 9, the Lord is telling us that He died to save a nation, and a people, and the wicked from destruction.
