In an age of rising anti-Christian and Semitic expressions, when no one wants to read out-dated Bible stories anymore, is it not ironic that here on the front page of just about every social media site is the name of Jonah, that Biblical prophet of old; and I couldn't be more happy.
Jonah!
It was on a bad day when I heard the name Jonah. It made me made to hear his name, and I was offended that somehow it was being attached to me. Let me explain.
I knew I was going to be fired from my job. New owners were purchasing our company, and one by one, all of the staff were being let go and my turn was next. Worst of all, they were making me drive an hour and a half to get the news.
There I was laying over the side of my bed, agonizing over my future, getting ready to pray. That is when it happened.
I had the sense that the Lord leaned over me and spoke into my ear. It was so forceful that the hair on the back of my head moved with the force of His speech.
What was it He said?
He called me, "Jonah!"
I shot up like someone put coals down my back. I was hot. How dare God call me Jonah! I wasn't running away from anything! My hands were ready for a rumble, I was intensely offended at what He just declared over me. At least give me a good name instead of that of a runaway prophet.
Then the phone rang. It was time to go and went and received my pink slip. It was not a fun day.
I was mad over this for a long time. It several months for me to calm down to realize that maybe the Lord had called me Jonah for some reason that I did not know. It was quite possible that I did not know everything, so I decided that I would study Jonah to see why I was being connected to him.
Ten Years Later....
For over a decade I deep dived into all thing Jonah.
I listened to three sermons a day on Jonah from a preacher's website. I heard every theory from every aspect. I wrote everything down and amassed a still climbing 1600 page volume of Jonah revelations. It is so big that if I were to break it down into volumes of 200 pages each, there would be over 8 books in the series.
I learned things I have never revealed to anyone, not because they are controversial. Heaven forbid. No, but they are time licked and even if I tried to release them at the wrong time they could not be received.
One of those "revelations" was that Jonah was a revival book, and that I being called "Jonah!" by the Lord meant that I would be involved in revival work somehow. In fact, I became convinced that the book of Jonah would somehow become forefront tot he world again, especially to America.
Who Would Believe That?
No one would have listened to me back then when I first received this revelation that Jonah would become forefront again to a nation who was running away from God, but look at Youtube, and social media and the headlines today. There is Jonah.
These revelations were time locked.
And here is one more revelation about Jonah that most do not know:
Jonah is only one
of 11 books in the Bible
whose first word is "Now."
There is a message from Jonah to America, and it is a "now" message.
