Kaskaskia is a city no one remembers.
In 1673, Father Jacques Marquette and Louis Joliet visited the village, which at that time contained approximately 1,000 people. They left from Mackinac Island, Michigan and traveled down Lake Michigan into the Illinois river, ending up in the Grand Village where they met the Kaskaskian people.
Although terminally ill, Marquette returned to the Grand Village in early 1675 to celebrate Mass, and founded the mission of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin.
Soon after the founding of the town of Kaskaskia, the French men intermarried with the women of the tribe. In 1714, it was recorded that there were 21 physical births and 21 spiritual births (baptisms). For those that are aware of the significance of the number 21, this would be a prophetic connection.
This offspring of the interracial marriages became a generation of people having dual citizenship: both French and Kaskaskian.
Like the children of Kaskaskia,
Christians are also a people of dual citizenship,
that of the earth and heaven.
Kaskaskia sports one of the oldest active congregations in America, established in 1675. It has had members from that time through to today, though they have used 8 different buildings in that time span: the Church of the Immaculate Conception .
Liberty Bell of the West
The city was captured in May of 1776 from the French. it was liberated by British captain named Lord.
A people of dual citizenship liberated by a commander of an army named Lord.
The town was later captured by Americans on July 4th, 1778, and George Rodgers Clark (the brother who was part of the famed Lewis and Clark expedition) entered the city and rang the church bell. It was known as the Liberty Bell of the West, sounding two years to the day after the Liberty Bell was rung in Philadelphia.
Kaskaskia would become so influential as a city that it first became of the capital of the Upper Louisiana Territory . Then after statehood, Kaskaskia became Illinois's first capital city in 1818. The town would become home to leading political and economic figures in the early, shaping years of Illinois.
Interesting fact:
Passover in 2024 falls on the 22nd of April.
Kaskaskia and Little Egypt is an area enumerated by many 400's.
If we were to take 400 (eclipse number)
and divide it by 22 (Passover number), we get 1818,
the year Kaskaskia became the capital city.

But Kaskaskia was supporting lumber clearing for the fuel needed for the new steam ships used on the Mississippi River. This action caused the banks to erode as more and more of the trees were cleared from the shore. Soon the the Mississippi cut the town in two and created an island where people were stranded. To this day, one has to go through another state (Missouri) to find entry via road to Kaskaskia Island.
This whole section of Southern Illinois which the Eclipse Tav mark highlights is fronted on its western river bank by a feature called America's Bottom.
In fact, Kaskaskia is the southern most tip of this regional feature, which becomes a prophetic sign all its own as we as if America has reached the bottom of its depravity?and so of this highlighted by the eclipse Tav mark.
Kaskaskia is where
America's Bottom begins.
It is a a 175-square mile area of flat lands that extends from Alton, Illinois, south to the Kaskaskia River, with a boundary to the Mississippi River.
The area is seven miles from river to river and has seven distinct regions within its confines.
It is a floodplain rich for agriculture.
The American Bottom
provides more than two-thirds of the nation’s supply
of horseradish.
Passover, anyone?
How interesting that we are finding this out during the Passover season of 2024
Soon Kaskaskia would flood, in a short span. This reason is one cited as replacing it as the capital of Illinois. They needed a capital that would not be flooded.
In the late 19th century, the town was cut off from the Illinois mainland and mostly destroyed by repeated flooding and a channel change by the Mississippi River. The River washed away the banks of the remaining island along with building after building as they river reclaimed its shoreline. Eventually the area would flood up to a depth of 9 feet 3 inches in 1993.
Once reaching a population fo 7,000 in the 1860s, we find on America's 400th birthday in 2020, in the 21st state of the Union, Kaskaskia fell to only 21 citizens, making it the least populated community in America.
