Strange Coincidences???
What do the Total Solar Eclipse, the emergence of the double broods of cicadas and a city named Kaskaskia have in common? Only the Lord knows, but this is why He is pointing us to to this region because he is about to reveal it there.
Let's start with the strange name of Kaskaskia, the word that has a double "ask" in it. When I first saw this name, though I had never heard of it before, the strangeness of it immediately drew me. For Christians, we see the ask in its name and think of this verse.
Ask, and it will be given to you;
seek, and you will find;
knock, and it will be opened to you.
Matthew 7:7
Then we as Christians also think of asking for a double portion, by the double ask in Kaskkaskia.
And so it was, when they had crossed over,
that Elijah said to Elisha,
“Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?”
Elisha said, “Please let a double portion
of your spirit be upon me.”
2 Kings 2:9
Therefore the "ask-ask" in Kaskaskia stands out to those who have an ear to hear.
Kaskaskia is a village, a city, but more importantly it is a people. A tribe of Indians called the Kaskaskia lived in an area that is now in the throws of the April 8th Total Solar Eclipse.
Who were they? What is their connection to the Eclipse and the Double Cicada Emergence?
They were a people, who started a village that would become one of the most significant communities in America, rising to the status of the first capital of the state of Illinois. Strangely this significant place would fade from history in a heartbeat. Kaskaskia would not heard of again, that is, until now. It is for this time that the tale of Kaskaskia to be re-revealed.
Connections
We see that it is located where the Eclipse is happening, it is also located where the double brood emergence of the cicadas are occurring at the same time. That link is the obvious one. The only connection left to make is what does Kaskaskia have to do with cicadas?
In the language of the people who called themselves Kaskaskia, that name means nothing other than "cicada." Technically "katydid." The Kaskaskia are an American Indian tribe that no longer exists but a double emergence of cicada are occurring at the same place and same time as the double emerging eclipse paths to point out the history of the town with a double ask in its name.
This is where God is pointing His finger.
