#14: Twenty-One “21” Chapters: Part II

Working with our next entry, a critical theme emerges mirroring current events with these selected “chapter 21’s” from Scripture.

21st Chapters and Current Events

8.) Our first example of a chapter 21 comes from the book of 1 Kings where it is revealed how the nation’s top leader bludgeoned his way into the possession of a stolen position (land ownership). Not only how he obtained it illegally, via false accusation and theft, but he also had operatives (namely his wife) involved in the murder plot. The chapter peaks as the man of God delivers the verdict against the wicked ruler because God was not going to be silent about this evil act.

9.) Where 1 Kings dealt with theft and its punishments, 2 Kings chapter 21 explores the notion that a godless ruler cannot produce a blessed nation. In this 21st chapter, it is shown how a wicked leader made a godly country into something worse than an unbeliever’s land.

The first two expository chapter 21’s used here showcase the radical agendas of wicked rulers bent on destroying good, and it can cause a national downfall.

21 and the News

10.) In Ezekiel 21, we read,

And it shall be when they say to you, ‘Why are you sighing?’ that you shall answer, ‘Because of the news; when it comes, every heart will melt, all hands will be feeble, Every spirit will faint, and all knees will be weak as water. Behold, it is coming and shall be brought to pass,’ says the Lord GOD.”

This 21st chapter reveals how news can tear down culture’s resolve, especially when it is only bad news. When news media reaches the point of unified collusion to deconstruct the land’s goodness, it extracts the people’s life essence.

The verse asks a question: “Why do you sigh?” or “Why are you depressed? Why are you so down?”

The answer is that the news breaks the godly’s will and the ungodly alike, for Satan has come to steal, kill and destroy. Beware of the media.

21 and the National Crisis

11.) Jeremiah 21 introduces a siege against Jerusalem, the nation’s capital.

When a nation’s capital is attacked, it means that the country is threatened to be overcome. A capital is the government’s head, and if the head is cut off, then the government will fall, with the nation collapsing closely behind it.

Watch what has happened in America’s capital; it is under siege, yet the 21st chapter declares that there is still hope.

12.) At the national crisis of famine during David’s time, the 21st chapter of 2 Samuel 21 lays out how to solve it. In this case, it was an illegal issue a prior ruler committed, which had to be corrected. When the repentance was completed and restitution paid in full, the national crisis was resolved.

Chapter 21 of 2 Samuel tells us how to resolve a national crisis: Repentance.

13.) Deuteronomy chapter 21 introduces “ for the LORD your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.’” God will not leave us defenseless in the hands of ungodly people who have evil plotted against us. God will fight for us. It is a promise from a 21st chapter.

14.) In 1 Samuel 21, David reclaims Goliath’s sword.

Now not only does the Lord fight for us, but He allows us to fight. He will enable us to utilize the same weapon formed against us to become the enemy’s destruction. The church will regain the use of the sword of faith in this day to behead the giant who threatens us.

These 21st chapters walk through national issues, espousing warnings and judgments with promises by God to fight for us and let us recapture powerful weapons to thwart our adversaries based upon our repentance.

The message of these 21st Chapters: God is willing to save the repentant soul.

“It’s the 21st Year!”
